(Tokyo, November 9, 2006) - Mochida Siemens Medical Systems, Co., Ltd. (President: Shuichi Ishii, head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) released its “Medilaser Soft Pulse 10” on November 7th. This brand-new diode laser therapy device employs special high peak power pulsed radiation, allowing it to penetrate laser beam twice as deeply into targeted diseased part than its predecessor.
Diode laser devices can alleviate pain caused by inflammation of muscles and joints by affecting a low-power laser beam on vascular and nerve systems. They cause little or no pain or heat, and also offer shorter treatment times than other physical therapies. Such devices are used in the treatment of stiff neck, low-back pain, post-herpetic neuralgia, and others at orthopedic and internal medicine.
This April, laser therapy device was added to the list of approved Japanese medical service fees, under the new classification, “J119-3: Low-power laser radiation” and is worth 35 points.
(1)High-peak power pulsed radiation penetrates laser beam to deeper diseased part
Laser beam is rapidly attenuated when diffused and absorbed by the human body. Laser therapy device has always strived to overcome this challenge and better to penetrate tissue.
The Medilaser Soft Pulse 10 employs a pulsed laser radiation system with a peak power of 10W (instead of the conventional continuous irradiation at 1W) thus assuring laser beam penetration to deeper, hard-to-reach areas, while also safely minimizing the generation of intense heat. The device's penetration is about two times deeper and its laser beam intensity 10 times stronger than its predecessor, the Medilaser Soft 1000. This new radiation system enables the safe treatment of deeper diseased part than previously possible.
(2)Compact design, simple operation for more efficient treatment
Drawing upon Mochida's long and proud accomplishment and expertise, the Soft Pulse 10 was designed and manufactured to maximize user satisfaction.
Even with a high-output 10W diode laser element is equipped, its volume size has been reduced to 70% of its predecessor, making it easy to install and move around anywhere -- in a consultation room, or between beds -- using a standard equipment cart.
Operation is simple. Radiation modes and time can be selected by pushing a button. The probe is light and shaped for easy radiate to focus on a small lesion. Use of optional probe-holding arm will make operation easier.
Mochida Siemens Medical Systems Co., Ltd commenced operations with spin-off of the Medical Electronics and Equipment Sector of Mochida Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in 2003. Mochida Siemens’ ultrasound diagnostic devices have continued to occupy the largest market share in the field of obstetrics and gynecology for many years. It has also established a firm presence in the market of circulatory or abdominal devices, following its business and capital alliance with the Siemens group in 2004. Since the launch of its first diode laser therapeutic device in 1988, Mochida has consistently developed superior products, enjoyed continued success, and currently occupies a considerable market share.
Mochida Siemens is devoted to offering safe, high-performance medical devices that help improve the quality of life of patients suffering from pain.
