Janssen Pharmaceutical K.K.
Mochida Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.

(Tokyo, May 30, 2005) Janssen Pharmaceutical K.K. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Ko Sekiguchi) and Mochida Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Naoyuki Mochida), which have been carrying out joint distribution of the triphasic low-dose oral contraceptive ORTHO®777-21 and the monophasic low-dose oral contraceptive ORTHO®M-21, have agreed upon the independent distribution of these products by Mochida Pharmaceutical, starting June 1st.

By this transfer of distributorship, Janssen Pharmaceutical intends to concentrate on reinforcing its key proprietary products and business areas more than ever, while Mochida Pharmaceutical will place increased emphasis on its core sales operations in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology. Manufacturing will remain commissioned to Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical Incorporated.

ORTHO®777-21 and ORTHO®M-21 were developed by Ortho-McNeil Inc, a US Johnson & Johnson Group affiliate pharmaceutical company. Janssen Pharmaceutical K.K. (formerly Janssen Kyowa Co., Ltd.) received marketing approval in Japan for these products as low-dose oral contraceptives in June of 1999.
