Mochida's Liquid Thrombin Softbottle Wins Japan's Highest Packaging Honor

(Tokyo, August 1, 2003) - Mochida Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (President: Naoyuki Mochida) proudly announces that it has won the Japan Star Award, the top award given by the Japan Packaging Contest 2003, for its Liquid Thrombin Mochida Softbottle, designed by Mochida to house its haemostatic agent.

Now in its 25th year, the annual contest is open to all Japanese products, from consumer goods to industrial products, and is aimed at developing and disseminating better packaging techniques. The Japan Packaging Institute holds the contest every year under the aegis of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The package design was validated for its significant contribution to the prevention of medical mishaps, for facilitating waste separation and collection, and for its appropriate response to environmental issues.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 30th 2003, after which Mochida will obtain the rights to exhibit the Softbottle at the World Packaging Contest, and also to use the "GP" (GOOD PACKAGING) logo, which is approved for use only by products that have been awarded such an honor.
