Versatile Ultrasound Imaging System
Letter of Intent for distribution of SONOLINE® Antares
(Tokyo, April 17, 2002) Mochida Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (President: Naoyuki Mochida) and Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. Ultrasound Division (President: John Pavlidis) announced that they have signed a Letter of Intent for Mochida to introduce and distribute, in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology in Japan, the SONOLINE® Antares platform, an ultrasound imaging system manufactured by Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. The parties expect to sign the definitive distribution agreement in the next month.
In addition to the SONOVISTA® range of ultrasound imaging systems that are the mainstay of Mochida's medical equipment, the Company has reinforced its strong presence in the obstetrics & gynecology fields with a wide range of medical electronics and equipment such as fetal monitors, and newborn-hearing test apparatus.
Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. is a leading international company that develops and manufactures medical equipment and devices, such as magnetic resonance imaging systems (MRI), X-ray CT scanners, and ultrasound imaging systems.
SONOLINE® Antares is a high-end ultrasound imaging system developed by Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc., and has already been introduced in many countries worldwide. To better meet the needs of the obstetrics and gynecology, perinatal measurements software will be incorporated into the SONOLINE® Antares platform which Mochida plans to launch in Japan.
The introduction of SONOLINE® Antares alongside SONOVISTA® is expected to strengthen Mochida's lineup of ultrasound imaging systems, allowing it to better meet the demand of users and bolster the Company's sales activities.
